PSB’s
Port Security Barriers (PSB’s) were developed and tested by the U.S Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC), in response to the October 2000 terrorist attack on the USS Cole in Yemen which killed 17 and caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damages to the ship.
PSB’s are floating barriers used to protect vessels, ports, and other critical infrastructure from high-speed terrorist attacks and to deter unauthorized entry into secure areas. The US Navy has now licensed this technology for use in the private sector to several companies.
Ducworks was privileged to fabricate the first PSB’s & NPSB’s for naval installations on the East and West coasts and to assist in prototype development of the linkage systems.
